Sundown at Indian Creek in Overland Park, Kansas.

It’s quite amazing to walk on the trail along Indian Creek.

Parts of the trail run along 103rd Street in Overland Park, Kansas, pass a busy intersection at Metcalf, yet, walking along the trail one can hear birds chirping, and watch the creek and almost  envision a time when Indians did walk along the trail as the sounds of the water drown out the cars and sound of city life.

It’s pretty amzaing you are so close to civilization, yet so close to nature at the same time.

Last week there was a lot of rain and the creek banks overflowed, which can be seen in some of these photos where trees are bent down or knocked down from the force of the flood waters which flooded several nearby businesses, as the creek flows over into Kansas City, Missouri, about 3 miles from the area where these photos were taken.

It’s nature pure and simple. It’s just left to the imagination to think of how it was before the civilized streets were paved, the businesses built, the bridges went up to accommodate the traffic, before Kansas was even a state, and before Overland Park became the big city it is today.
